Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound at extremely high reaction rate in high yield without causing side reactions, by isomerizing 3-pentenoate in the presence of a bicyclo amidine.
CONSTITUTION: 3-Pentenoate is isomerized in the presence of a bicyclo amidine, e.g., a compound shown by the formula I or the formula II to give the titled compound. An amount of bicyclo amidine is 0.01W2mol based on 3-pentenoate, preferably 0.01W1mol. The reaction temperature is preferably 30W150°C. The bicyclo amidine is not changed in the reaction, exhibits reaction promoting effect, and can be recovered readily from the reaction product by distillation and reused.
