Abstract
PURPOSE:A sleeve of a die casting machine of superior abrasion resistance which is obtained by interposing a middle cylinder made of lava between an outside cylinder made of metals and an inside cylinder made of ceramics. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve A consists of an outside cylinder a1 made of steel, an inside cylinder a2 made of ceramics and a middle cylinder a3 made of lava between the outside cylinder and the inside cylinder. The middle cylinder formed to a circular cylindrical shape by grinding and polishing a lava block is fitted onto the outside of the inside cylinder to the same cylinder shape and the outside cylinder is formed by casting steel on the outside of the middle cylinder to a predetermined thickness. To perform die casting by operating the die casting machine, the sleeve A is gradually raised of its temperature in a heating furnace until it reaches the same temperature as the temperature of molten metal and is mounted to the injection device 1 in molten metal 4. Thence, a predetermined amount of ingots are put in a melting furnace 2 suspending the injecting device and are heated together with the sleeve so that the ingots are melted while the inside and middle cylinders are prevented from being damaged by an abrupt temperature change, thence the injecting device is started to press-feed the molten metal in the sleeve into a die 3.
