Abstract

PURPOSE: To withdraw selectively only condensed ammonia liquor having less fixed ammonia content in a primary cooler, by a method wherein condensed ammonia liquor in the gas inflow side of a primary cooler for cooling a coke oven gas, is added to the effluent system of condensed ammonia liquor in gas outflow side.
CONSTITUTION: In a dry main 1 positioned at the top of a coke oven 10, water is sprayed on a coke oven gas (COG) generated from the coke oven 10 to obtain ammonia liquor which is then supplied to a decanter 4 where tar and tar slag are separated. Then the ammonia liquor as circulating ammonia liquor is returned to the dry main 1. The COG generated is introduced into a primary cooler 2 where the COG is indirectly cooled, and then fed to a subsequent stage by means of a suction blower 3. Condensed ammonia liquor 6 is produced in the cooler 2. Only the condensed ammonia liquor 6 which is produced near the gas inflow side of the cooler 2 is withdrawn and fed to an exclusive tank 8, and then supplied to a seal pot 7 in gas effluent side by means of a pump 9.
