Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover high purity sodium thioxyanate by simple operation by concentrating or cooling waste liquor discharged by the wet desulfurization of coke oven gas to separate sodium sulfate and further carrying out concn. or cooling.
CONSTITUTION: Waste liquor discharged from a coke oven after wet desulfurization is treated by wet oxidation, and the treated liquor 5 is charged into a concentrator 1 and concd. under reduced pressure or cooled to crystallize sodium sulfate. The sodium sulfate is separated with a centrifugal separator 2 and recovered as crystals 6. The separated soln. 7 is introduced into a crystallizer 3 from the separator 2 and cooled or concd. to crystallize sodium thiocyanate, which is then separated with a centrifugal separator 4 to obtain purified sodium thiocyanate crystals of high purity. By returning the separated soln. 9 to the concentrator 1 from the separator 4, the loss of sodium thiocyanate and sodium sulfate is minimized.
