Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover high purity alkali carbonate which is reusable from filtrate by the procedure in which waste slag produced when molten pig iron is desulfurized or dephosphorated by an alkali carbonate is extracted with hot water while blowing CO2 into the apparatus, and then the extracted solution is mixed with iron ion and sediment is filtered.
CONSTITUTION: The molten pig iron obtained at the blast furnace 1 is sent to the desulfurization and dephosphoration process 2 to cause reaction with Na2CO3 added in a fixed amount, whereby S is converted into Na2S and P is converted into sodium phosphate. And, the pig iron thus treated is sent to the converter 6 and mixed with CaO, etc. for refining, and then sent to the casting process 7. On the other hand, the waste slag formed in the process 2 is sent to the extraction and washing process 3, where extraction and washing are made with hot water while injecting CO2-containing gas to crystallize most of S ion in the form of iron sulfide. And, the extracted solution is sent to the sedimentation tank 4 and mixed with iron ion to precipitate iron sulfide and iron phosphate and removed them. Then, the filtrate is concentrated and then sent to the fractional crystallization process 5 to separate NaCO3 sediment for removal and recovery.
