Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover a high-quality alkali metal in a simple extraction process by crystallizing and separating the alkali metal from a soln. extracted from refining slag contg. an alkali metallic compound and by adding quick lime or the like to the filtrate to make P, S and Si difficultly soluble.
CONSTITUTION: Slag (a) contg. an alkali metallic compound after refining molten iron is crushed to a prescribed grain size and fed to an extraction vessel 1. On the other hand, a filtrate separated from a filter 4c as a circulating soln. (b) for extraction and part of a filtrate from a filter 4a after separating undissolved residue as a refluxing soln. (c) are supplied to the vessel 1, and a synthetic gas (e) consisting of CO2, O2 and N2 is blown to adjust the pH. The remainder of the filtrate from the filter 4a is fed to a crystallization vessel 2, and by blowing a similar gas (e), the pH is adjusted to crystallize NaHCO3, which is then separated and recovered with a filter 4b. The filtrate is fed from the filter 4a to a vessel 3 for removing P, S and Si, and quick lime or slaked lime is added as a removing agent (d) to make P, S and si difficultly or slightly soluble. They are filtered off with the filter 4c, and the filtrate is supplied to the vessel 1.
