Abstract

PURPOSE: To treat oil-containing electrolytic cleaning waste liquid, economically, and to reuse the effective components, by introducing CO2 gas into the liquid to effect the solid-liquid separation, concentrating and calcining the extracted liquid to recover Na2CO3, and calcining the residue to recover SiO2.
CONSTITUTION: In the electrolytic cleaning of steel, oil-containing waste liquid is extracted from the line as deterioration progresses, and bubbled with CO2-containing gas to precipitate the water-containing silicic acid (SiO2.nH2O) in the liquid according to the reaction of formula. The soild-liquid separation of the waste liquid with a centrifugal separator, etc. gives the extracted liquid (an aqueous solution of Na2CO3) and the residue (oil+H2SiO3). The extracted liquid is concentrated and the resulted precipitate is calcined at 300W400°C to recover the solid Na2CO3. The residue is calcined at ≥1,100°C, and SiO2 is recovered. The recovered SiO2 is about several mm in diameter, and can be reused as a part of the sintering raw material, and the recovered Na2CO3 can be used as a part of the slagging agent for the preliminary treatment of molten iron discharged from a blast furnace.
