Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove naphthalene from coke oven gas without supplying an additional absorbing oil, by using an absorbing oil contained in tar of the gas.
CONSTITUTION: Coke oven gas is fed from the pipe 21 to the naphthalene scrubber 22 to absorb naphthalene and gas oil in the gas with an absorbing oil from the pipe 23. The oil is then fed from the tank 25 through the heat exchanger 27 to the column 28, and dehydrated. The oil is then fed through the heat exchanger 33 to the stripper 34, and the naphthalene and the gas oil are separated. Part of them are fed to the pitch removal column 39, and pitch is separated. The pitch, the naphthalene and the gas oil from the stripper 34, the water from the column 28 are subjected to oil-water separation in the receiver tank 32. The water thus separated is fed from the pipe 45 to the tor decanter 46 to separate the tar containing the absorbing oil from the pipe 47, and the separated tar is fed from the tank 48 through the heat exchanger 50 and the oil heater 36 to the column 39.
