Abstract

PURPOSE: A sulfuric acid solution containing arsenic (III), iron (II), zinc, copper and cadmium is brought into contact with an organic solvent containing a dialkyl dithiophosphate as an extracting agent at a pH lower than 4 to separate and recover arsenic selectively.
CONSTITUTION: A sulfuric acid solution containing arsenic (III), iron (II), zinc, copper and cadmium, which are obtained in the nonferrous metal refining, is brought into contact with an organic solvent containing a dialkyl dithiophosphate bearing 8W10C alkyls as an extracting agent at a pH of less than 4. After extraction, the solution is brought into contact with a sulfuric acid solution of lower than 600g/l to remove the iron (II), zinc, and cadmium from the solution. Then, the organic solution containing arsenic (III) is extracted with an alkali solution to separate the arsenic.
