Abstract

PURPOSE: To avoid the effect of the variation of the cover gaseous pressure for the liquid metal level gauge used in the liquid metal cooling fast neutron reactor, by incorporating plural number of detection systems into the barrel of the gauge to detect the operation of the level sensor part which operates by the variation of the buoyant force and then providing the vapor trap at the upper part of the detection system.
CONSTITUTION: The optional number of detecting parts 7 are incorporated into level gauge 6 in the tank along with vapor trap 10 provided at the upper part each. When liquid level 8 is lower than float 13 of part 7, the tip of operating bar 14 provided piercing through diaphragm 15 is apart from actuator 20 of limit switch 21 by the empty weight of float 13. With increase of level 8, float 13 rises up to turn switch 21 on. Thus the lamp glows to secure detection of the position of the liquid level. As trap 10 is located apart from the detecting part, the liquid metal vapor never reaches the switch part even though the pressure of the cover gas may increase. Thus the effect of the variation of pressure can be avoided.
