Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain distilled water economically with good thermal efficiency with a compact apparatus by operating a steam compressor by making use of solar heat in a distillation apparatus for obtaining distilled water.
CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus of desalting salt water, brine, etc., refrigerant steam is made into high temp. and high pressure by solar heat, by which a turbine 17 is operated, and further a steam compressor 10 is driven. Then, the steam generated from an evaporator 1 by this steam compressor 10 is adiabatically compressed to high-temp. high-pressure steam and this steam enters a heating chamber 6. Here, this high-temp. high-pressure steam heat exchanges with raw water 20 and brine to evaporate part thereof to steam which is condensed to distilled water. If the thermocompression type distillation apparatus is used in this way, the economical distilled water is obtained with good thermal efficiency.
