Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the mechanical strength as well as the conductivity of a positive plate for an alkaline storage battery without reducing the density of volumic energy, by mixing nickel oxide with synthetic-resin fiber provided with a conductive layer, being followed by molding this mixture. CONSTITUTION:Nickel oxide, and alkali-proof synthetic-resin fiber such as polyethylene fiber whose surface is provided with a conductive layer by performing metal-plating (e.g., nonelectrolytic nickel-plating) on the fiber, are mixed with a starching agent to make a paste. After that, the paste is applied to a core body to obtain a positive plate.
