Abstract
PURPOSE: To extend burning time in such a way that solid propellant anget filled in the primary combustion chamber is formed in cylinderlike shape, the inner and outer circumferential surface of this propellant agent are covered with combustion inhibiting material, and the propellent agent is ignited at both ends.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of flying a ram rocket 1, solid propellant agent 11 of cylinderlike shape catches fire by means of igniter 17. The solid propellant agent 11 is gradually burned from its both ends because restrictors 12, 13 acting as combustion inhibiting material are respectively stuck to the inner and outer circumferential edges thereof. Incomplete combustion gas which has been generated in the primary combustion chamber 3 by this combustion is supplied through a filter 18, a nozzle 2 and an injector 19 into the secondary combustion chamber 4. Then, since compressed air is supplied into the combustion chamber 4, from an air intake port 7 through a diffuser 6, the incomplete combustion gas will be completely burned. In this event, fuel liner 21 is also burned, and the pressure in the chamber 4 is maintained at a determined value.
