Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform membrane separation action of high permeation flow and separation efficiency with small pressure difference by admitting the liquid to be treated from the hollow cylindrical part of a cylindrical hollow fiber layer which is packed with selective permeability hollow fibers at specific densities.
CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical assembly 2 which is intersectionally disposed with hollow fibers of cellulose acetate, aromatic polyamide, etc. of 10W1,000μ in outside diameter and 3W80% in percentage of hollowness having selective permeability characteristics at 45W70% filling rate is supported by means of resin walls 3, 4 at both ends and a stanchion 20 and is put into a case 1. A cavity part 7 is axially provided at the center of the assembly 2, and one end thereof is connected to the conduit 11 penetrating in the resin wall 4 and the end plate 6 of the case 1. The hollow fibers are set in a U shape and both ends thereof are extruded to the outside of the assembly 2 through the resin wall 3. The water to be treated such as salt water is admitted through the conduit 11, and is pressure-fed into the hollow fiber layer 2 uniformly. The water permeates through the hollow fiber walls and is taken out from an outlet 9. The liquid concd. of other contents passes among the fiber layers and is discharged from an outlet 12 through the annular flow passage on the outer side.
