Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a tubular membrane type separating module capable of safely conducting a continuous operation at medium and low pressures by packing a particulate material into gaps between non-woven fabric reinforced tubular membranes and gaps between the membranes and an outer cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: The reinforced tubular membranes 1 are placed in parallel inside the outer cylinder 2 at regular intervals, and both their ends are sealed off by a molding synthetic resin 3. The particulate material 4 is packed into the gaps between the tubular membranes 1 and the gaps between the membranes 1 and the outer cylinder 2. A raw liquid is introduced through an inlet cap 6 and is passed through the tubular membranes 1, then a concentrated liquid is taken out via an outlet cap 7, while a permeated liquid is taken out through holes 5 and a nozzle 8 after passing through the particulate material 4. Since the tubular membranes 1 are packed with the particulate material 4, they are not broken even at medium or low pressures. The membrane 1 is suitably composed of a polyester non-woven fabric tube, has an inside diameter of desirably about 4W25mm and preferably has a thickness of 0.1W1mm, a breaking stress of 10kg/cm2 or higher and a porosity of 0.2W0.7. The particulate material 4 is, for example, polyethylene particles with the particle diameter preferably in the range of about 1W2mm.
