CONSTITUTION: On transparent substrate 1 made of glass, etc., metal film 2 made of Al, etc. amorphous silicon film 3 and Sb-doped transparent conductive film 4 forming heterojunction are formed successively. Then, voltage output 5 generated between metal film 2 and conductive film 4 through electromagnetic wave electric energy conversion is supplied direct to an energy accumulating method or circuit. To provide polarized-wave selective absorption, an adequate area on substrate 1 is patterned in stripes by being photoetched. Consequently, polarized wave components parallel to stripes are selectively absorbed and converted into electric energy and orthogonal polarized- wave components are selectively transmitted and utilized for liquid crystal display etc.
