Abstract

PURPOSE:To control generation of noise waves, by forming at least one spark discharge unit of either of a rotor electrode and fixed electrodes with conductive ceramic having a specific resistance within a preset range. CONSTITUTION:A distributor is attached to an internal combustion engine by means of a housing 1 and cam shaft 2. The cam shaft 2 is turned, being geared to a crankshaft of the engine, and is equipped with a rotor 5 which is composed of a rotor electrode 3 and insulator 4 fixing the electrode 3. A distributor cap 10 having a center terminal 7 at the center and fixed electrodes 6 in the circumferential direction is attached to the housing 1. At least, the spark discharge unit of at least either of the rotor electrode 3 and fixed electrodes 6 is formed with conductive ceramic having a specific resistance of 10<-6>-10<-2>OMEGA.cm.
