Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a composite plating film of nickel and boron nitride having both characteristics of self-lubricity and abrasion resistance by dispersing boron nitride power into a nickel sulfamate bath and electrolyzing plating of controlled pH.
CONSTITUTION: Boron nitride of 0.5W5.0μ grain sizes is dispersed in a nickel sulfamate soln. by using a fluorocarbon-base surfactant of cation system. With pure nickel as anode and the work such as sliding parts as cathode, electrolysis is performed by using this plating bath under conditions of 3W20A/dm2 current densities, 40W60°C bath temperatures and 1W5pH. By this treatment, the composite plating layer contg. boron nitride in nickel matrix is formed on the cathode. Accordingly to this method, the self-lubricating dry type film of good sliding feedling having lubricity and abrasion resistance is formed on the surface of the sliding parts etc.
