Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the subject method comprising diffusing molybdenum disulfide in a watt solution by use of a cationic phlorocarbon surfactant and a hydrocarbon surfactant, and electrolyzing a plating solution whose pH has been adjusted, thereby to obtain a composite plating layer.
CONSTITUTION: A typical composition of a watt solution is nickel sulfate of 240 g/l, nickel chloride of 45 g/l, and voric acid of 30 g/l. In this watt solution there is diffused molybdenum sulfide having a grain diameter of 0.1 to 1μm. Upon this occasion, in order to increase the eutectoid quantity, both cationic phlorocarbon surfactant (market sold) and hydrocarbon surfactant such as octadecyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, and pH thereof is adjusted in the range of 0.1 to 1. By the above described operation, it is possible to make molybdenum sulfide which is a solid lubricant eutectic in such a large quantity as 15% by weight as a diffusing agent in nickel matrix. When this plating solution is electrolyzed, it is possbile to electrodeposit nickel and molybdenum sulfide simultanously to the cathode, and both lubricity and wear resistance can be afforded.
