Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of an initial exciting DC power source for a synchronous generator by providng three-armed diodes conducted only at the initial exiting time at a normally exciting rectifying circuit connected in hybrid manner. CONSTITUTION:When the speed of the prime mover gets close to the rated speed, switches 11, 11b and 9 are closed to impart initial excitation to the generator. Since the gate control signal from the thyristor in the rectifying device 6 is not outputted from the automatic voltage regulator 15 at the beginning of the initial excitation, the exciting current is produced by the current fully-rectified by the diodes of the 3- armed components and the diodes 6a of 3-armed components of the rectifying device 6 together with the current from the DC power source 10. When the generator is once excited initially, the switch 9 is opened. When the voltage is raised thereafter to that for operating the automatic voltage regulator 15, the switch 11b is opened. Thus, the capacity of the initial exciting DC power source can be reduced.
