Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a long life picture display unit whose maintenance cost is reduced by providing a fluorescent layer opposed to an acceleration electrode, transmitting the glow from the fluorescent screen through meshed control and acceleration electrodes, and discharging it outside a tube body. CONSTITUTION:A control electrode 7 consisting of a meshed plane electrode is separated in the front of a cathode 6 for the front at regular intervals. Further, A similar acceleration 12 is arranged in parallel to the control electrode in front of the control electrode at regular intervals and these control and acceleration electrodes 7 and 12 are supported by a support frame 13. Furthermore, the bottom 14 of a lower box body 3 is formed in a concave shape which has the center of curvature in the glow direction of a fluorescent screen 17. The fluorescent screen 17 is formed by coating a metal back 15 on the concave bottom 14 and a fluorescent layer 16 on it. As described above, a long life picture display unit whose maintenance cost is reduced can be obtained by using a cathode-ray tube instead of an incandescent lamp.
