Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the brightness uniformity of a fluorescent screen and its resolution etc. by conductively connecting a metal back layer and a conductive film formed on the inner surface of a funnel when a faceplate and the funnel are thermally sealed. CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent screen 14 is formed only at the section which corresponds to the effective screen of a faceplate 11. This faceplate 11 is positioned in a vacuum deposition device and a metal back layer 15 consisting of aluminum deposition film is formed at the range which is slightly broader than the fluorescent screen 14 and is slightly narrower than a sealing region 20. Then silver paste as the second conductive material 21 is coated in a frame to overlap with the periphery of the metal back layer 15. The faceplate 11 on which the second conductive material 21 is coated and a funnel 12 on which the first conductive material 22 is coated including on the surface of a frit glass member are thermally sealed using the frit glass member. This can improve the brightness uniformity of the fluorescent screen and its resolution etc.
