Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the size and weight of a chopper, by utilizing the output of a current detector used for motor current control to detect commutation failure in the chopper. CONSTITUTION:The output of a current detector, which detects the current of a motor, is differentiated by a differentiation circuit 20. The differentiated output is applied to an AND circuit 17 through a level conversion circuit 21. A timing circuit 15 receives a signal synchronized with a turn-off pulse signal for turning off a chopper. The timing circuit produces an output delayed by a prescribed time necessary for the commutation of the chopper. A pulse picked out from the output terminal of a one-shot multivibrator circuit 16 is applied to the AND circuit 17. A chopper commutation failure detection pulse is picked out from the output terminal of the AND circuit.
