Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate detection error by a method wherein output from a pulse generator is connected to a voltage detector circuit and also the output is applied to a weld material and a detection electrode terminal via a capacitor connected in parallel to the series circuit of DC power circuit and a current detector circuit.
CONSTITUTION: Output from a pulse generator 23 is applied to a base material 3 via capacitor 26 connected in parallel to the series circuit of DC power circuit 27 and a current detector circuit 28. The output is also applied to an electrode terminal for detection 22. Depending on the distance between both, whether they are separated, near, or contact, the current changes from 0 to contact current. The voltage between the detector electrode 22 and the base 3 is 0 for separated distance, pulse state for close distance generating discharge, and a certain value if they contact. In this manner, combinations of output signals from the current detector circuit 28 and a voltage detector circuit 29 differ for different distance between the detector electrode terminal 22 and the weld base material 3. Thus, the separation, close, and contact can be detected from the outputs from both circuit.
