Abstract

PURPOSE:To extend the life of a discharge lamp with no increase in the loss of power due to the oxidation of the core by performing the heat treatment of the sintered body of Ni-Mn-Zn ferrite below the specified temperature prior to the coating of paint. CONSTITUTION:The ferrite sintered body basically composed of four substances such as NiO, MnO, ZnO, and Fe2O3 is sintered in a specific atmosphere and the surface thereof undergoes a heat treatment below 430 deg.C in the air. Then, after coated with paint, it is sealed into the discharge lamp. This can prevent the oxidation of the ferrite and thus eliminate increase in the loss of power due to oxidation thereby extending the life of the discharge lamp.
