Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain high-quality discharge lamps without oxidizing ferrite core by burning a sintered ferrite body containing the component of a four-element system of MgO, MnO, ZnO, and Fe2O3 as a basic component, and heat-treating the surface thereof at or below the specified temperature. CONSTITUTION:A sintered ferrite body containing the component of four-element system of MgO, MnO, ZnO, and Fe2O3 as a basic component is burned in a specified atmosphere. Then the surface of said ferrite is heat-treated in the air, and a paint is applied on the surface. Thereafter, the ferrite core is sealed in a discharge lamp. In this case, the heat treating is performed in the air at or bellow 410 deg.C. Therefore, the ferrite core is not oxidized, and the deterioration of the characteristics such as power loss is not caused. By this method, the high-quality discharge lamp can be obtained.
