Abstract
PURPOSE:To lengthen the preservation time of a silver(II)oxide battery by adding an alkaline-earth-element compound to an alkaline electrolyte of the battery whose main positive active material is silver(II)oxide. CONSTITUTION:An alkaline battery includes a negative mixture 2 made of an amalgamated zinc, and a positive active material 4 whose main component is AgO. An electrolyte of the battery made of an alkaline solution is added with a chemical compound which contains an alkaline earth element. The former alkaline-earth-element compound is preferred to be either a hydroxide or an oxide of Ca, Mg, Ba or the like. The former alkaline electrolyte contains ZnO as usual, which is preferably added with not less than one compound of these hydroxides or oxides.
