Abstract
PURPOSE:To retard the growth of dendrite crystals and to increase the cycle performance of a battery by covering the surfaces of zinc particles pith an indium compound and zinc oxide. CONSTITUTION:An electrode group consists of a positive electrode 1, a negative electrode 2 using zinc as an active material, and a separator which is interposed between both electrodes 1, 2 and spirally wound with them. The surfaces of zinc particles are covered with an indium compound and zinc oxide. If the surfaces of zinc particles are covered with at least one compound selected from Tl, Ga, Sn, Bi, and Pb in addition to the indium compound and zinc oxide, further effect is expected. By retarding the growth of dendrite crystals and the deformation of the electrode, the life of a battery is increased.
