Abstract

PURPOSE:To control contact time of belt-shaped metal with chemical conversion soln. by simple method at all time, by changing the length of immersed range of the belt-shaped metal in the chemical conversion soln. CONSTITUTION:Belt-shaped metal A is immersed in a chemical conversion soln. between an immersing means 3 and a withdrawal means 4 which are at positions shown by chain lines, then the contact time of the metal A with the soln. is adjusted by changing the immersion length of the metal A as follows: the pressure applied to the metal A is removed by lifting a roll 6 and a roll 7 if necessary. The means 3 is moved horizontally by driving a motor 21a e.g. to a predetermined position shown by a dotted line in figure, where it is stopped. Then the metal A is pressed into the treating soln. by lowering the rolls 6, 7 to the original position. These procedure may be performed independently of whether the metal is being conveyed or not.
