Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent formation of undipped parts and adhesion of molten metal to a side not to be dipped in one-side hot dipping of a strip steel sheet by contact to hot dipping metal, by setting baffle plates in a metal bath to prevent swelling of the bath surface at a position where the sheet contacts to or approaches the surface. CONSTITUTION:Strip steel sheet 1 heated and activated in a reducing atmosphere is carried in hot dipping apparatus 2 kept under a nonoxidizing atmosphere, and it is moved horizontally with roll 6. Sheet 1 runs near the surface of hot dipping metal bath 3 contacts to a part of the bath surface raised with ultrasonic tips 4 to be one- side hot dipped. The dipped sheet is then turned upward with roll 7 and separated from the bath surface. Molten metal heated in channels 10 in frequency induction units 9 connected to metal bath vessel 8 circulates in low the directions of the arrows to stir bath 3 and regulate it to a predetermined temp. Swelling due to the circulation is prevented with baffle plates 11.
