Abstract
PURPOSE:To accurately control the level of a bath and facilitate exchange of an ultrasonic vibration tip weared, by controlling a molten metal in a supply pass between a hot dipping unit using the tip and a metal melting vessel with electromagnetic force of electromagnetic pumps placed round the pass. CONSTITUTION:Strip steel sheet 1 is continuously fed into hot dipping unit 3 kept under a reducing atmosphere, and the under surface of sheet 1 is contacted to bath surface 9 raised with ultrasonic vibration tip 6 to carry out one-side hot dipping. Electromagnetic pumps 14 as moving field generators are placed at the upper and lower parts of supply pass 13 between bath vessel 6 and melting vessel 12 to induce electromagnetic force in the molten metal in pass 13, thereby giving propulsive force to let the metal flow into vessel 5. The level of the bath in vessel 5 is detected with level detector 15, and the signal is sent to control circuit 16 to control excitation circuit 17 so that the bath level is kept constant. At the time of exchanging tip 8, the press. direction of pumps 14 is reversed to shift all of the molten metal in vessel 5 to vessel 12, and whole vessel 5 is exchanged for a spare.
