Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the thickness of in-furnace raw material layers uniform and stabilize operations by dispensing the raw materials in plural stationary hoppers successively and separately into a rotary chute and charging the same onto a small bell at the time of charging the raw materials to a blast furnace by means of a bell type furnace top charging device. CONSTITUTION:Various raw materials are charged into stationary hoppers 5, 6 by means of head chutes 15, 16 and are once stored therein. Next, the gate 17 of either one of the stationary hoppers is opened to dispense the raw materials in the stationary hopper 5 into a slewing chute 4 under rotation, by way of a sealing valve 19. When there are no more raw materials in the stationary hopper 5, the raw materials in the stationary hopper 6 are charged into the slewing chute 4 by the similar opera- tion. In this way, the raw materials are successively charged into the blast furnace via a small bell 2 and a large bell 3. The raw material layers of less differences in raw material layer thickness and variances in mixing ratios are formed irrespective of varying charging amounts, thus the blast furnace operations become stable and the variances in the quality of molten iron are decreased.
