Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a photoswitch of sure operation with simple constitution by making a light buffer layer on the contact surface of a prisms with an optically transparent and soft material. CONSTITUTION:A transparent and soft light buffer layer 30 of lens bond, transparent acrylic or epoxy base is provided on one of the contact surfaces of prisms 6a, 6b, and the contacting and separating of this surface are effected by a piezoelectric element. Now, when a piezoelectric element 32 is mounted to one of the prisms, and the other prism is mounted to a stationary holder 33 and if an electric field is applied to the element 32, the element contracts in the direction of an arrow 43. When the electric field is removed, it elongates in the direction of an arrow 35, and resets to the original position. On account of such elongation and contraction of the piezoelectric element, the two prisms detach or attach, and as a result, incident light 1 becomes reflected light 2 and on the other hand the incident light 1 becomes transmitted light 3. Hence, the photoswitch of sure operation may be obtained with the simple constitution.
