Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of an optical branching circuit and reduce the circuit size by using polyhedral prism. CONSTITUTION:Polyhedral prisms 1-4 are prepared having optical film surfaces 5-7 with branching characteristics, reflective surfaces 8-10, incident end plane surface 11, emergent end plane surfaces 12-15 and plane surfaces 21-23 other than reflective surfaces. Prisms 1-4 are bonded and arranged on plane substrate 24 made of hard glass, resin or the like so that common incident direction 16 becomes a common optical axis, and surfaces 5-7 are closely contacted to surfaces 21-23, respectively. Optical coupling convex lenses 25-29 are closely bonded to surfaces 11-15 in accord with the optical axis. Thus, transmitted light lambda1-lambda4 is emitted in predetermined emergent directions 17-20.
