Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform controlling of accurate heat extraction quantity by changing the kinds of the powders to be charged to various sections in the width direction of a mold according to actual dynamic mold heat extraction conditions. CONSTITUTION:The heat flow distribution in the mold width direction are measured with heat flow flux sensors and the kinds of the powders to be charged are changed so that the heat extraction quantity becomes uniform. For example, molten steel 10 is continuously poured into a mold 14 through a mold immersion 12. The heat flow fluxes of respective sections are measured with the plural heat flow flux sensor 16 buried in the suitable positions of a steel plate 14a. A control unit 24 selects the kinds of the powders to be sent from the hoppers containing powders of different melting conditions by controlling a powder distributor 22 based on the heat flow flux distributions detected with the sensor 16. From respective charging powder supply nozzles 18, the powders best suited according to the mold width direction sections having been detected with the sensors are charged. Thereby, longitudinal cracking is surely prevented.
