Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily measure the water temperature at an optional depth during navigation by a method wherein plural number of acoustic wave transmitting-receiving units and a temperature indicator are installed at the bottom of the ship, and the water temperature near the point of intersection of acoustic wave beams is operated to be displayed.
CONSTITUTION: The wave transmitting-receiving units 3, 4, a water temperature sensor 7, and a sound speed sensor 8 are installed at the bottom of the ship. And the acoustic wave beams are projected from the wave transmitting-receiving units 3 and 4 so that the beams intersect each other, and an echo at the point of intersection is received in the wave transmitting-receiving unit 4 to be entered into an arithmetic circuit CPU and along with this, a segment of the echo is entered into the CPU via the sound speed sensor 8. And further, the water temperature near the ship bottom is measured by means of the water temperature sensor 7 and these three are operated through the CPU, and then, the water temperature near the point of the beam intersection 5 is displayed on an indicator PR. On this account, the water temperature at an optional depth is corrected based on a reference values taken from the values of the sound speed sensor 8 and the water temperature sensor 8, thus, an accurae water temperature can be measured even when a ship is navigating.
