Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a less-expensive apparatus for detecting dangerous movement of ship or offshore structure from anchorage position, wherein the distance of movement of the ship or the offshore structure from the anchorage position is measured by means of ultrsonic wave transmitter and receiver using the anchorage position as the reference position, and an alarm is generated when the amount of movement exceeds a predetermined warning value. CONSTITUTION:A ship or an offshore structure (referred to as ''ship'') is provided at its portion B with an ultrasonic transmitter/receiver unit 1 directed in either the fore (bow) or aft. (stern) of the shop and another ultrasonic transmitter/receiver 2 directed to the left or right direction. The ship is provided also at its portion C with a still another ultrasonic transmitter/receiver unit which is directed either in the left or right direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the hull. All of the ultrasonic transmitter/receiver units 1.2 and 3 are adapted to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves to and from the sea bottom at predetermined angles. The signal transmitted from and received by the ultrasonic transmitter/receiver units 1, 2 and 3 are delivered to a Dopper sonic wave velocity meters 4-6 which are adapted to measure the velocities of the ship making use of frequency change due to Doppler effect. The velocities thus measured are integrated by integration units 7-9 into the distance of movement in each direction. The distances of movements in three directions thus obtained are compared with respective set values in a comparator 11. An alarm is generated automatically when one of the set values is exceeded by the measured distance of movement. It is thus possible to obtain an apparatus at a low cost.
