Abstract

PURPOSE: To dissolve oxygen in good efficiency by a method wherein, between an inflow pipe of an oxygen dissolving apparatus and a dissolving tower, an intermediate tower having an intermediate cross sectional area between both of them is provided and mutually connected.
CONSTITUTION: An inflow pipe 1 and a dissolving tower 3 are connected through an intermediate tower 2 having an intermediate cross sectional area between that of the inflow pipe 1 and the dissolving tower. In this constitution, an oxygen-containing gas is supplied from a gas supply pipe 5 and released through a gas diffusing device 4 into the dissolving tower 3 as bubbles. Water is introduced from a water inlet pipe 1 through the intermediate tower 2 and flowed downward through the dissolving tower 3. Then, because water flow speed in the intermediate tower 2 is slower than the upward flow speed of large gas bubbles and higher than the speed of fine gas bubbles, said water stream shears said large gas bubbles and disperses them into the dissolving tower 3 as well as disperses throughout the dissolving tower 3. Therefore, a gas-liquid contact area and time are increased and the dissolving efficiency of oxygen is enhanced.
