Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a highly active titanium-vanadium system catalyst for decomposing nitrogen oxides by molding and baking titanium oxide after mixed with a sulfate of an element such as those in IIA group of the periodic table and a vanadium compound.
CONSTITUTION: As a catalyst for ammonia contact reduction method of nitrogen oxides, 100pts.wt. titanium oxide is mixed with 0.1W10pts.wt. of a sulfate of an element such as zirconium in IIA of the periodic table and 0.1W10pts.wt. of a vanadium compound such as vanadium oxide and molded or supported on a carrier. Then, after dried, the mixture is baked. As a result, a titanium-vanadium system catalyst is obtained for decomposing nitrogen oxides which is highly active while able to lower the active oxidation property of sulfur dioxide.
