Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst which is active for both nitrogen dioxide and nitrogen monoxide by compounding titanium oxide, vanadium oxide and oxides of manganese, cobalt, etc. at specific ratios as a catalyst for reduction of NOx. CONSTITUTION:As a catalyst for oxidation of NOx, titanium oxide, vanadium oxide and oxides of manganeses, cobalt, etc. are contained, and the vanadium oxide and the oxides of maganese, etc., form composite oxides so as to contain titanium oxide to vanadium oxide=1:(0.01-0.3) in atomic ratio, titanium oxide to oxide of manganese, etc. =1:(0.01-0.3). This catalyst is highly efficient for both of nitrogen dioxide and nitrogen monoxide and removes these stably with high efficiency for a long period of time.
