Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst of high denitration activity and high SO2 oxidation suppression over a relatively wide temp. range by setting the atom ratio of bivalent W quadrivalent cations and vanadium of a vanadium-titania catalyst for treatment of nitrogen oxides at a specific range.
CONSTITUTION: In a vanadium-titania catalyst used for treatment making nitrogen oxides in waste gases to harmeful ones, the atom ratio of bivalent W quadrivalent cations added or cations that can be cations such as oxide, chloride and the like of cations and vanadium is set at 0.01W5.6. If in this way the number of atoms of the vanadium catalyst contributing to the dissociation of oxygen is reduced, the catalyst of high denitration activity over a relatively wide temp. range is obtained while the oxidation activity for SO2 is being decreased.
