PURPOSE:To secure the recording and reproduction with a high SN ratio for the filter device which is suited for the signal transmitter or the like of a tape recorder, by increasing the cut-off frequency in accordance with the increment of the signal level. CONSTITUTION:For recording, the negative feedback circuit of the main amplifier 2 consists of the resisto RN, and the record signal is led out to the record signal output terminal TR through the point passed through the variable filter 4 and the componsating amplifier 5. While in reproduction, the negative feedback resistor RN and the serial circuit of the amplifier 5 and the filter 4 are added to the negative feedback loop of the amplifier 2, and the reproduction output signal of the amplifier 2 is led to the reproduction output signal terminal TP. Then the cut-off frequency of the filter 4 is increased in accordance with the increment of the signal level. Thus the recording and reproduction is possible with a high SN ratio.
