CONSTITUTION:A test signal is fed to a tape recorder 2 from an audio frequency generator 3 of a microcomputer 1. The resistance value of a variable resistor 5 is controlled variably so that the level of output bias current of a bias oscillator 4 of a tape recorder 2 can stepwise be changed. A test signal is recorded on a magnetic tape 7 together with the bias current. This operation is made for the signals of intermediate and high band. At reproduction, the level of reproduction output difference for both the frequency signals at each stage is detected via a AD converter 8 and the bias current value corresponding to the minimized step is adopted. Thus, optimum bias current value can be set.
