Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an air cell with high discharging operation voltage and having a great discharging capacity by using, together with an electrolyte containing perchlorinate and zinc negative electrode, an air electrode consisting of a metal chelate compound, carboneceous material and water repellent fluoro resin. CONSTITUTION:To the bottom of a positive casing 1 serving also as a positive terminal is formed an air supply sperture 2 which is sealed with sealant 11 of polyvinyl chloride sheet using adhesive 12. An air electrode 3 is provided by way of an air permeable film 8 such as Teflon having a lot of fine apertures and highly air permeable paper 7 within the positive casing 1 and an electrolyte support material 5 is provided thereover by way of a separation paper 4 which is liquid-philic and semipermeable. The electrolyte used is, for example, an acidic liquid mixture of zinc perchlorinate and sulfumic acid. The opening of the positive electrode casing 1 is closed by way of a gascket 10 by a negative electrode casing 9 filled with nagetive electrode body 6 made of zinc powder to form an air cell. The air electrode 3 of such a cell comprises a metal chelate compound such as cobalt phthalocyanine, carbonaceous material such as activated carbon and a water repellent fluoro resin.
