Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a wow and the worsening of an SN ratio due to vibration, by providing an eccentric-wow correcting method in addition to an electromagnetic position control method that holds one part of an arm at a prescribed position perpendicular to a record surface or in the connection direction of its groove and the arm at a position at right angles to a tracking direction.
CONSTITUTION: Arm 4 is fitted with driving coils 5 and 6 sandwiched in between a couple of magnet plates 21, driving coil 9 sandwiched in between magnet plates 23, magnetic body 26, and driving coil 11 forming a linear motor together with magnet plates. fitting plates 5a and 6a of driving coils 5 and 6 are fitted with Hall elements 7a and 8a to hold arm 4 at a fixed position in the vertical direction. The x-directional position is controlled through light source 33 provided to driving coil 11 and the photoelectric potentiometer. Through Hall element 10a provided in the center of driving coil 9, the position in the length direction of the arm and an eccentric wow are corrected. Thus, the worsening of the SN ratio and eccentric wow can be compensated.
