Abstract
PURPOSE:To give a correction to the azimuth and thus increase both the record/ reproduction efficiency and the resolution, by securing a coupling between a magnetic head and the gear mechanism coupling to the head arm and then varying the direction of the head according to the rotation of the arm. CONSTITUTION:The gear 3 is attached to the shaft 2 of the head arm 1. The magnetic head 6 is attached at the upper end of the shaft 5 that is bonded to the gear 7 engaging the gear 3, and the shaft 5 is supported by the bearing 4. In such constitution, the arm 1 is rotated by the voice coil motor 8, and thus the direction of the head 6 varies via the gear 3 and 7. Accordingly the azimuth can be adjusted at zero or a certain value or less over a entire range on the magnetic disk 9 by selecting a proper gear ratio between the gears 3 and 7 to the rotating position of the arm 1. As a result, the azimuth is corrected to increase both the record/reproduction efficiency and the resolution.
