Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the parallelism and alignment accuracy of circular cylindrical lenses and improve the assembling accuracy of optical transmission bodies by beforehand surface grinding the surfaces of plate members which hold the parallel disposed circular cylindrical lens array into a row shape therebetween.
CONSTITUTION: Plate members 4-1, 4-2 are secured to surface plates 11 respectively and the surface thereof are ground with the grinding wheel 12 of a griding machine to form good planes. Next, the plate material 4-1 with the ground surface faced upward is secured to a surface plate 14, after which intermediate members 3 are adhered to both ends of the plate member; at the same time, multiple circular cylindrical lenses 2 are placed in a row shape to form a lens array. Thence, the plate member 4-2 fixed to a surface plate 15 with its ground surface faced downward is superposed on the lens array, after which it is adhered to the members 3, whereby the lens array is held in placed between the two plate members. In this way, the parallellism and alignment accuracy of the lenses 2 may be enhanced. An adhesive resin is impregnated between the lenses of this sandwiching body, whereby the optical transmissin body is formed. In this way, the assembling accuracy is improved.
