Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a nonimpact recording device which is of a simple structure and can scan as wide as the width of an ink supporter more effectively by a method wherein radiating energy is scanned obliquely to the moving direction of an ink coating surface. CONSTITUTION:In a recording device by thermal copying where hard ink in an ink supporter 2 is melted by radiating energy and a copy is made on a recording sheet 1, the radiating energy is made to be scanned obliquely to the moving direction of an ink coating surface. In other words, in a line printer, for example, when a laser beam begins scanning at A0 and ends scanning at B0, it enters a fly-back period, the laser rays are put off and the ink supporter sends character pitches from A0 up to A1 by a feed motor. The laser rays start lighting a lamp at A1 and resume scanning. The laser rays make oblique scanning by a constant speed rotation of the ink supporter. When heat beam scanning is made in a right and left direction in the conventional manner, the ink supporter is not used efficiently and another scanner is required in a width direction of the ink suppoerter and the cost of recording device is hiked up.
