Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a superior catalyst for the purpose of making harmless and removal of the NOX in the exhaust gas containing much dust and SOX by coating catalyst components on the carrier which is a silicacalcium oxalate composite followed by drying and firing.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous soln. of oxalic acid or oxalic acid compound such as ammonium oxalate, iron oxalate, iron oxalate or vanadium oxalate is coated on a molding of calcium silicate base by an immersion method, spray method or brushing. In this way, the calcium silicate molding is converted to the composite of silica and calcium oxalate. Next, one or two or more kinds of oxides of V, W, Cr, Fe, Cu, Ni, Mo, Ti, etc. which are catalyst components are combined and are made into a slurry soln., into which the abovementioned composite carrier is immersed, after which it is dried and fired. The catalyst which is stable and is not attacked by the SOX in exhaust gas and is used for reducing NOX to harmless N2 and H2O with NH3 is obtained.
