Abstract
PURPOSE: To desulfurize and denitrate an exhaust gas and improve economy by binding thermally stabilized titanium oxide to carry copper oxide contacting the same with the exhasut gas.
CONSTITUTION: Titanyl sulfate is neutralized with ammonia water and is subjected to precipitating, filtering and firing. Next, tungstic acid is dissolved in methylamine and added thereto and the mixture is fired to form thermally stabilized titanium oxide. Thence, aluminium hydroxide is added thereto and the mixture is molded and fired to a granular shape to prepare the carrier. The carrier is then impregnated with an aqeuous copper nitrate soln. and is fired to prepare the catalyst carrying copper oxide. The sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide in the combustion exhaust gas are simultaneously removed by this catalyst, whereby the exhaust gas is purified.
